“Matisse yourself”
A scream like someone who drives another to express themselves in a creative and colourful way.
Matisse, Master in the domain of the expressive language of colour and drawing, a reference to us since always.
In this project, we had the opportunity of translating our inspiration through creativity and translating to matter. Where the walls appear as a way to express our art, what to do when the walls are full of windows? When the columns sprout like they’re flowers?
“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” – Henri Matisse
Breathe. There’s a ceiling. It was in this exact moment that the progress started.
Exploring the shape, the colour, the impact. It was through great courage of the owners, António and Pascoal that we had the chance of materializing our creativity.
Matisse’s work went through various transformations, mutations.
It was in 1941 that he started to create cut-paper collages, most times in big scale.
The series Blue Nudes shows excellent examples of this technique that he named “painting with scissors”. It shows the ability to bring the eye to colour and geometry to a new medium of total simplicity but with a playful and enchanted power.
It was exactly from this inspiration that we drank for this project.
A Project that made us question. Being that, a turning point in the way we look at the art of projecting.
